Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Arvind Kejriwal, launched the "Rewadi Par Charcha" campaign on Friday. This initiative is aimed at highlighting AAP's welfare initiatives as the Delhi Assembly elections-2025 approach. Kejriwal announced that the campaign will include 65,000 meetings across Delhi, with AAP volunteers distributing pamphlets that outline six major free services or "rewadis" provided by the AAP-led Delhi government.
Focus on Free Welfare Services
Kejriwal emphasized the substantial work AAP has done for Delhi, citing the six free facilities provided to residents. Through the campaign, AAP plans to directly engage with voters, asking them whether they wish to continue receiving these services.
Kejriwal underlined the impact of these initiatives and the popularity of these "rewadis" among the people. He reminded voters that AAP’s term is set to conclude on February 23, 2025, with elections likely early next year. In the previous 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP had secured a sweeping majority, winning 62 of the 70 assembly seats.
Additionally, Kejriwal mentioned a proposal to provide ₹1,000 per month to women, highlighting AAP's continued focus on welfare measures.
BJP neglected Delhi's development
Addressing the broader political context, Kejriwal accused the BJP of neglecting Delhi's development over the past decade. Given Delhi’s unique status as a Union Territory, Kejriwal argued that the central government holds equal power in Delhi governance. However, he claimed that while the BJP governs in 20 states across India, it does not provide similar welfare initiatives elsewhere as AAP provided in Delhi.
Kejriwal also responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's frequent criticism of AAP's welfare policies. Kejriwal defended these initiatives, asserting that AAP’s policies genuinely benefit residents and are a hallmark of effective governance in Delhi.
Allegations Against Shah and Hardeep Puri
Kejriwal took the opportunity to target Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, accusing them of making false promises to the Purvanchal community in Delhi. According to Kejriwal, Shah and Puri had promised during the last elections to facilitate the registration of unauthorized colonies where many Purvanchali people reside. However, he claimed no registrations were completed over the last five years. Kejriwal argued that, unlike the BJP, AAP has taken concrete steps to improve the lives of Delhi’s Purvanchali residents.
