The West Central Railway's Bhopal Division is set to explore the possibility of introducing a Vande Metro train between Indore and Bhopal, aiming to improve rail connectivity and reduce travel time. This examination will involve assessing viable routes, available time slots, and logistical requirements for operating the train efficiently.
Preliminary sources suggest that the Vande Metro may likely operate on the same route previously used by the Indore-Bhopal Double Decker train, as this path is currently vacant and free from other train services.
May operate two round trips
The Bhopal Division will evaluate the availability of a maintenance slot for the Vande Metro at either the Bhopal or Rani Kamlapati railway yards. If a suitable slot is available, the train could depart from Bhopal in the morning, arrive in Indore by midday, and return to Bhopal in the afternoon. It would then operate a second round trip, leaving Bhopal in the evening, arriving in Indore, and departing from Indore at night to reach Bhopal.
Dewas-Maksi Route: The Preferred Path
Currently, most trains between Indore and Bhopal travel via Ujjain, leading to higher fares and extended travel times for passengers. The Dewas-Maksi route, however, offers a shorter and more cost-effective alternative. Experts have recommended that the Vande Metro utilize this Dewas-Maksi path to enhance convenience and speed for passengers commuting between the two cities. Additionally, some experts suggest a similar Vande Metro service between Ujjain and Bhopal to further improve regional connectivity.
This project, if implemented, could significantly enhance travel efficiency between Indore and Bhopal, providing a faster, more economical rail option for commuters in the region.
