Devendra Fadnavis Takes Oath as Maharashtra CM for Third Time; Bollywood, Cricket, and Business Luminaries Attend

Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time in a grand ceremony held at Azad Maidan, Mumbai, at 5:30 pm. Eknath Shinde also took the oath as the Deputy Chief Minister, putting to rest speculations about his discontent over his name missing from the invitation card. Leaders from the Shinde faction clarified earlier in the day that Shinde would indeed be sworn in as Deputy CM. In addition, NCP leader Ajit Pawar took the oath as Deputy Chief Minister, marking his sixth time in this position.

Bollywood, Cricket, and Industry Icons Attend

The event attracted numerous prominent personalities from Bollywood, cricket, and industry. Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan made stylish appearances, while Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor entertained the crowd with their lively camaraderie. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and industrial magnate Mukesh Ambani were also present, adding star power to the high-profile event.

Eknath Shinde's Tribute to Balasaheb Thackeray

Eknath Shinde, upon taking the oath as Deputy CM, paid tribute to his political mentor, Balasaheb Thackeray, the founder of Shiv Sena. After the ceremony, Shinde warmly shook hands with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was seated on the dais, signifying unity amid earlier rumors of discord.

Ajit Pawar: Deputy CM for the Sixth Time

Ajit Pawar once again took the oath as Deputy Chief Minister, reinforcing his position in Maharashtra’s political landscape. Speaking to the media a day before the event, Pawar confidently confirmed his participation, adding that Shinde’s role would be clarified during the ceremony. His calm assurance silenced speculations and showcased his political acumen.

PM Modi and Amit Shah Among Dignitaries

The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking political leaders and dignitaries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari were present. Chief Ministers from various states, including Yogi Adityanath (Uttar Pradesh), Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Bhupendra Patel (Gujarat), and Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh), were also in attendance, underscoring the national significance of the event.

A Unique Journey: From CM to Deputy CM

Notably, Eknath Shinde has become the second leader in Maharashtra to transition from Chief Minister to Deputy Chief Minister, following Devendra Fadnavis’s earlier example. This unique political trajectory highlights the evolving dynamics within the state’s leadership and the broader alliance between BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP factions.

The oath-taking ceremony of Devendra Fadnavis as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister for the third time, along with the appointments of Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar as Deputy Chief Ministers, was a grand spectacle. Attended by a mix of political stalwarts and cultural icons, the event marked a significant moment in Maharashtra’s political history, reflecting both continuity and change in the state’s governance.
