The recently inaugurated Van Mandir (forest temple) in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada, officiated by state's Forest and Environment Minister Kedar Kashyap, has attracted a large number of visitors who enjoyed the unique experience. Spanning 18 acres, this is the first Van Mandir of its kind in Chhattisgarh, showcasing a diverse array of preserved trees and plants.
Van Mandir features various themed gardens
The Van Mandir features various themed gardens, including Arogya Van, Rashi Van, Nav Graha, Nakshatra Van, Rock Garden, Sapt Rishi Van, and Panchvati Van. Each area is designed to represent different aspects of nature, such as the zodiac, planets, and constellations. The site also provides valuable information on yoga and medicinal plants that can be used for health treatments, alongside areas that reflect the exile period of Lord Shri Ram.
Minister Kedar Kashyap emphasized that this initiative promotes environmental conservation and raises awareness about the dangers of global warming, ultimately benefiting the community.
Fostering children's learning
Visitors can also admire impressive 3D paintings and posters of various animals, including butterflies, lions, elephants, and bears, designed to engage and educate. To foster children's learning, slogans are presented in simple language, ensuring that future generations can easily understand and appreciate the lessons offered.
According to officials from the Dantewada Forest Department, this Van Mandir aims to educate the public about health and environmental awareness. A standout feature is the rock garden, constructed using stones from the Indravati River and iron stones sourced from NMDC.
Additionally, a café serving traditional Bastariya cuisine has been established within the Van Mandir, allowing visitors to indulge in the rich flavors of the Bastar region.
