BJP leader Navya Haridas has filed a petition in the Kerala High Court challenging the election of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat. Haridas has claimed in the petition filed on Friday (December 20, 2024) that Priyanka did not disclose her and her family's assets correctly in the nomination papers and gave wrong information.
The BJP leader said that this is against the model code of conduct and is tantamount to corrupt conduct. This raises the question of whether Priyanka Gandhi could potentially lose her position as an MP due to the petition in the HC. While the outcome remains uncertain and will be decided by the court, it is likely that Priyanka Gandhi is feeling increased pressure as a result.
Navya had suffered a crushing defeat
In the by-election held on Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala, Navya Haridas was defeated by Congress candidate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra by a margin of more than five lakh votes. Confirming the filing of the petition, Navya Haridas said that the matter is likely to be heard in January 2025, as the High Court will be on vacation from December 23 to January 5.
