Madhya Pradesh Assembly winter session concludes amid uproar, what were key issues on last day?

\

Bhopal: The winter session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly concluded today on a tense note. Congress MLAs staged a protest over Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent statement on Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in Parliament, calling it an insult to the Constitution. The assembly proceedings were ultimately adjourned indefinitely due to disruptions.

Singhar accuses BJP of disrespecting Ambedkar

Congress leaders entered the assembly carrying copies of the Constitution and raised slogans against the BJP. Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar accused the BJP of disrespecting Dr. Ambedkar and the Constitution. Singhar criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for not apologizing for the controversial remarks. “The Constitution is being insulted, and no apology has been issued for the derogatory words against Ambedkar ji,” he stated.

'BJP MPs mistreated Rahul and Kharge’

Singhar further alleged that BJP MPs mistreated Congress leaders during discussions in Parliament, including physical confrontations with Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. He also demanded that the Union Home Minister apologize and called for the withdrawal of what he termed "false cases" filed against Rahul Gandhi.

MPPSC Exam Irregularities Stir Debate

Another contentious issue raised by Congress was the alleged irregularities in the examinations conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC). Protests by youth outside the MPPSC headquarters in Indore have intensified in recent days, with demonstrators demanding transparency in the recruitment process for government jobs. Congress MLAs echoed these concerns in the assembly, calling for immediate action.

Former minister and BJP leader Gopal Bhargava acknowledged the concerns and suggested an impartial audit of the examination process to address the allegations. However, the assembly session was marred by loud disruptions, with Congress MLAs waving blue gamchhas and both sides engaging in heated exchanges.

Proceedings Adjourned Amid Chaos

The uproar over both the Constitution controversy and the MPPSC issue led to repeated interruptions. Unable to restore order, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings indefinitely.

As the session ends, these issues are expected to remain focal points in Madhya Pradesh’s political discourse, with Congress determined to keep the spotlight on what it describes as failures of the BJP-led government.
