The President Droupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Raghubar Das as Governor of Odisha and appointed new Governors in five states.

      

Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, Governor of Mizoram, has been appointed as Governor of Odisha. 


Former Army Chief General (Dr) VK Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd.) was appointed as Governor of Mizoram. 


Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Governor of Bihar, is appointed as Governor of Kerala. 


Arif Mohammed Khan, Governor of Kerala, has been appointed as Governor of Bihar and former Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla was appointed as Governor of Manipur.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
