Jammu and Kashmir: An Indian Army vehicle plunged into 350 feet deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch near LoC on Tuesday evening. Five soldiers were martyred in the accident and three are missing. Ten soldiers have been injured and the condition of four is reported to be serious.
It is reported that there were 18 army soldiers in the vehicle. The incident took place near the Line of Control (LOC) in Poonch district. The Army has started rescue operations. All the soldiers belong to the 11 Maratha Regiment.
As soon as the information about the accident was received, the Army's Quick Response Team (QRT) reached the spot and started the rescue. The injured soldiers have been shifted to a nearby hospital.
Officials informed that the army vehicle fell into a ditch in the Balnoi area of Mendhar in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
The accident happened when the vehicle of 11 Madras Light Infantry (11 MLI) was going from Neelam Headquarters to Balnoi Ghoda Post. According to the report, the vehicle fell into a gorge about 350 feet deep.
In the year 2023, an army vehicle fell into a 60 feet deep gorge in Ladakh. In which 9 soldiers were martyred. The army convoy consisted of five vehicles. In which 34 soldiers were riding. One soldier was also injured in this accident. Leh SSP PD Nitya had told that the driver lost control of the vehicle, due to which the truck fell into the gorge.
