Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the Winter Carnival organised at the Ridge in Shimla. According to an official release, the Winter Carnival Shimla will run till January 2, 2025. It is being considered as an important effort to promote the rich culture and traditions of the state.
The Chief Minister said on the occasion that the state government has initiated such carnivals in Shimla and Dharamshala, and a similar event has been planned in Manali as well.
Festivals reflect the rich culture and traditions of Himachal
The Chief Minister said, "Winter Carnival Manali is also being organised on a large scale by the government. Such carnivals and festivals reflect the rich culture and traditions of the state. The government is working hard to promote state tourism. So that more and more tourists are attracted to the state, making it a most preferred tourist destination."
Sukhu said that the government has issued notification regarding opening of restaurants and other food shops round the clock from December 23 to January 5, 2025, so that tourists and visitors do not face any inconvenience during their stay in the state. He said that the state government will provide all kinds of logistical support to the tourists.
Snowfall will be an added attraction
He urged the visitors to enjoy the carnival and snowfall. He also strongly appealed to all to keep the state polythene free by using dustbins. The Chief Minister hoped that the hilly areas of the state including Shimla city will get another round of snowfall during Christmas and New Year, which will be an added attraction for tourists. He further said that he hoped that there would be good snowfall this winter season, which would help in recharging the water sources.
The Chief Minister congratulated the Municipal Corporation and District Administration Shimla for organizing this festival in a grand manner. Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu also attended the Mahanati and flagged off the cultural parade on the occasion, in which participants from 11 districts took part.
