No Detention Policy: The central government has decided to end the 'No Detention Policy' for students of classes 5 and 8. But the Tamil Nadu government has refused to accept this policy. The Tamil Nadu government has clearly said that this policy of the Center will not be implemented in the state. Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has said that the policy of the central government will not be applicable to the state schools. By doing this, students coming from weaker sections may face difficulties.
'State govt is preparing its own education policy'
The Tamil Nadu government said that it will continue its special education model in the state. Under this, the 'No Detention Policy' will continue. The minister said that the state government is preparing its own education policy. Under this, students will be promoted to the next class without stopping. The decision of the Center will be applicable only to central schools. The old systems will be followed in government and private schools of Tamil Nadu.
'Every student will get a chance to complete education'
Education Minister Poyyamozhi said that students, teachers and parents of state schools need not worry about this decision. He said, "We will ensure that the existing system continues. This new policy will not be implemented in Tamil Nadu. No one needs to worry. The state government will ensure that every student gets a chance to complete education. Especially the rural and weaker section students will be taken care of.
Center abolished 'No Detention Policy'
The central government recently ended the 'No Detention Policy'. Now students of class 5 and 8 can be detained if they fail in the examination. This rule will be applicable in central schools. The government believes that this step is necessary to improve the level of education. The central government has implemented this policy with after consulting education experts.
Tamil Nadu had also opposed NEET
This is not the first time that Tamil Nadu has opposed any education policy of the Center. Earlier, when the Center introduced NEET, even then the Tamil Nadu government had opposed it. Tamil Nadu CM Stalin has been demanding several times to abolish NEET and start admission in professional and technical courses. He has demanded the restoration of the old system.
