Vinod Kambli hospitalized, doctors provide update on his health status

Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli is "responding very well" to treatment at a Thane hospital, where he was admitted on Saturday in critical condition due to a severe urinary tract infection and electrolyte imbalance, according to his treating physician. 

Dr. Vivek Trivedi, who is overseeing Kambli's care, said that the 52-year-old initially reported symptoms of a urinary infection and cramps, leading to his admission to the hospital in the Kalher area of Bhiwandi town on Saturday.

"Upon his admission on Saturday, Kambli presented with severe cramps, fever, and dizziness," Dr. Vivek Dwivedi, his treating physician, said. "He was unable to sit or walk and was drowsy at that time.

"After conducting a thorough investigation, we discovered that he was suffering from a urinary tract infection and an electrolyte imbalance. Both sodium and potassium levels were slightly low, which contributed to the cramps. Additionally, his blood pressure was also below normal. We initiated treatment with antibiotics," he explained.

Clots found in brain

However, after a series of examinations the medical team supervising him at Akruti Hospital found clots in his brain, Trivedi informed. Kambli's health is being constantly monitored and the team will carry out additional medical examinations on Tuesday, the doctor said.

Besides, Dr. Trivedi said that the hospital's in-charge, S. Singh, has decided to provide lifelong free treatment to Kambli at the facility.

Former India batsman Vinod Kambli, a long-time teammate of Sachin Tendulkar, was admitted to Akruti Hospital in Thane late Saturday night. According to a recent update, his condition is now stable but remains critical. 

In recent weeks, there has been much attention on Kambli's health issues. He attended a ceremony at Shivaji Park in Mumbai honoring the late Ramakant Achrekar, who coached him and Tendulkar. Several videos surfaced on social media showing Kambli struggling to conduct himself properly. However, he has since shared that he is feeling "better" after experiencing a health scare about a month ago.

Kambli told that he is currently battling a urinary infection, but he has received strong support from his wife and children, who have helped him regain his strength. He also said that former India all-rounder Ajay Jadeja visited him during this time.
