Prayagraj: Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav reached Prayagraj Mahakumbh today on 26 January. It is reported that he also took a holy dip in Sangam here. Akhilesh Yadav is the first opposition leader to reach Mahakumbh. It is believed that by taking a dip in Sangam, the SP President has not only tried to respond to the attacks of the Bharatiya Janata Party but has also given a message to the other members of INDIA Alliance.
Akhilesh Yadav is the first big leader from the INDIA Alliance who has reached Mahakumbh today. So far no prominent opposition leader of his stature has come to Mahakumbh. Akhilesh Yadav's presence here aims to convey a message to both the BJP and opposition parties to be mindful of soft Hindutva and the sentiments of the majority community.
Will Rahul, Priyanka also come to Mahakumbh?
After the SP President, now everyone's eyes are on other opposition parties as well whether they will also come to take a dip in Mahakumbh or what decision they take keeping in mind their agenda. Among these, more speculations are being made about Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
Recently, there was a lot of discussion about Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi coming to Prayagraj, it is believed that both the leaders can come to Maha Kumbh in the first week of February, although till now no official statement has come from the Congress party on this and neither has any Congress leader spoken openly on this.
Rahul's dilemma
Akhilesh's arrival at Maha Kumbh has put Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party in tension. If Rahul Gandhi goes to Maha Kumbh, it will mean that he is following in Akhilesh's footsteps. If he does not reach Prayagraj to take a dip in the Sangam, it will be considered an insult to the sentiments of the majority. Both situations do not seem favorable for Congress and Rahul.
Akhilesh was targeted by BJP
Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav was also invited to attend the inauguration ceremony of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya, but the SP president did not attend it. Not only this, when the UP Assembly Speaker took all the MLAs to visit the Ram temple, even then the SP MLAs kept their distance from it. After this, Akhilesh Yadav was fiercely surrounded by the BJP.
Not only this, the MLAs who rebelled against the SP also later expressed their displeasure over this decision. However, the circumstances were different then compared to this year. At that time there was an election atmosphere of Lok Sabha in the country. Akhilesh Yadav was a part of the opposition alliance. He is still a part but the unity in the alliance is not visible like before.
