Delhi Assembly Election-2025: Who is Alka Lamba, Congress's Candidate Against CM Atishi – A Former Fiery Leader of AAP

Delhi Assembly Election-2025: Congress party released the third list on Friday for the Delhi Assembly elections-2025. The party has fielded its veteran leader Alka Lamba from Kalkaji seat and will challenge Delhi CM Atishi. Congress had earlier fielded Sandeep Dixit from New Delhi seat against former CM Arvind Kejriwal. The Congress Central Election Committee has approved the candidature of Alka Lamba as a Congress candidate from Kalkaji constituency in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections-2025.

AAP leader and current CM Atishi is the MLA from Kalkaji. Atishi will contest the upcoming elections from this seat. Therefore, the contest on this seat is going to be very interesting.

Alka Lamba was born on 21 September 1975. She completed her M Sc from Delhi University, started her political career as a student leader. She joined NSUI in her student life itself. She was also elected President of Delhi University Students Union in 1995 on its ticket. She has also been the National President of NSUI.

Alka had to face defeat in 2020

In the 2020 elections, Alka Lamba contested from Chandni Chowk assembly on a Congress ticket. But at that time she had to face defeat. She was on the third position and AAP leader Prahlad Singh won. Earlier, in 2015 she contested on the AAP ticket and won. But this time she is in the fray as AAP's opponent.

Alka Lamba challenged BJP's veteran leader and former Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana from Moti Nagar assembly seat in 2003. Although she lost this election, she made a lot of headlines in this election. She also runs an NGO called 'Go India Foundation'.
