The Bharatiya Janata Party has released the first list of candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections-2025. This list of 29 candidates includes the names of Ramesh Bidhuri and Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma.
Pravesh Verma has been given a ticket from New Delhi seat. This has become a high profile seat due to Arvind Kejriwal contesting from here.
The Congress has given ticket to former Chief Minister's son and former MP Sandeep Dikshit from here. Thus there will be a triangular contest on New Delhi seat among AAP's Kejriwal, Cong's Sandeep Dikshit and BJP's Pravesh Verma.
BJP has given ticket to Ramesh Bidhuri from Kalkaji.
There are two women candidates in this list. Rekha Gupta has been given a ticket from Shalimar Bagh and Kumari Rinku from Seemapuri (reserved).
The party has nominated Dushyant Gautam from Karol Bagh, Manjinder Singh Sirsa from Rajouri Garden, Kailash Gehlot from Bijwasan, Arvinder Singh Lovely from Gandhi Nagar for upcoming Delhi polls.
Pravesh is son of former CM
There were reports that this time BJP can field a big face against Arvind Kejriwal. Now the party has given ticket to Pravesh Verma. He is the son of former Delhi Chief Minister and BJP leader Sahib Singh Verma. Sahib Singh Verma was the CM of Delhi from 1996 to 1998. Pravesh Verma is also considered a popular face in Delhi politics. For the last several days, he has also opened a front against Arvind Kejriwal. Pravesh has the image of a Hindu leader. In such a situation, BJP hopes that Pravesh Verma can give a tough fight to Kejriwal.
Pravesh targeted Kejriwal
Former BJP MP Pravesh Verma has said that he is preparing for the election from New Delhi assembly seat. Along with this, he also surrounded Arvind Kejriwal. Pravesh Verma said that he is listening to the problems of the public, meeting the workers. Arvind Kejriwal has not done any work in New Delhi. He has been an MLA from here for 11 years, but the public problems in the area have not ended.
Verma claimed that he will win the election. On the allegations of increasing crime in the capital, Pravesh Verma said that Delhi Police takes action against crime. Kejriwal ji is protecting Bangladeshis. As the elections are coming closer, threats are coming. Aam Aadmi Party is spoiling the atmosphere of Delhi.
Pravesh Verma faces the challenge of protecting legacy
Pravesh Verma is the son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma. Therefore, he also faces the challenge of taking forward his father's legacy. Pravesh Verma defeated the then Speaker of Delhi Assembly Yogendra Shastri in the 2013 assembly elections. After this, in the elections for the 16th Lok Sabha held in May 2014, he was elected from the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
The date of Delhi Assembly elections has not been announced yet, but other parties have announced their candidates and the election campaign is slowly gaining momentum.
On Friday, PM Narendra Modi held an election rally while starting the BJP's election campaign.
