Delhi Elections-2025: Kejriwal Takes a Bold Step: Writes to PM Modi on Jat Reservation; How Will BJP Respond?

Delhi Elections-2025: Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding the inclusion of Delhi's Jat community in the Central Government's Other Backward Classes (OBC) list.

In his correspondence, Kejriwal alleged the PM had betrayed the Jat community. He said that Jats, along with other OBC status castes in Delhi, deserve recognition.

Kejriwal said that the Central Government has failed the Jat community regarding OBC reservations for the past decade. He said Modi had promised Jat leaders that their community would be included in the OBC list recalled a 2015 meeting where. He also referenced a 2019 commitment made by Amit Shah to secure OBC status for the Jats.

Jat students from Rajasthan get the benefit but not from Delhi

In his letter, Kejriwal questioned the inconsistency of OBC benefits, pointing out that Jat students from Rajasthan can get reservations at Delhi University, while those from Delhi are denied the same opportunity.

He lamented that the absence of OBC status has prevented thousands of Jat children from gaining admission to DU and the community doen't receive essential benefits in Central Government institutions. Despite Modi's previous assurances regarding reservation for the Jat community, Kejriwal argues that these promises have yet to be fulfilled.
