The condition of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on hunger strike, is said to be critical. Meanwhile, it is reported that he has told the protesting farmers that the protest should not stop even in the event of his death. A team of doctors has expressed concern over his condition. Earlier, the farmer leaders of Punjab have warned that if anything untoward' happens, the Center will not be able to handle the situation.
According to media reports, Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta-Sidhupur president Dallewal has sent a message to general secretary Kaka Singh Kotda telling that his body should be kept at the protest site and some other leader should sit on hunger strike without food. Kotda says that Dallewal has refused to meet anyone and has asked him and other leaders to talk to the government.
Dallewal has also stopped taking his cancer medicine
According to the report, Kotda said, 'Dallewal’s condition has deteriorated just hours after meeting the Supreme Court-appointed committee headed by Justice Nawab Singh.' Dallewal has been on hunger strike for 44 days. A team of 5 doctors is constantly monitoring his condition.
Doctors said Dallewal, who has been drinking only water since November 26, has also stopped taking his cancer medicine. They said that the sodium level has decreased and blood pressure is continuously declining. They said he started vomiting while lying on the bed. He said that his condition is deteriorating day by day and anything can happen to him.
Farmers warn the government
Meanwhile, a team of government doctors examined Dallewal's health at Khanauri border. Farmer leader Kotda said, 'God forbid, if something untoward happens to Dallewal ji, then perhaps the central government will not be able to control the situation.' He said that the Center should try to ensure that the situation does not reach that level. Kotda said, "If something happens to Dallewal, the tenure of the current central government will be tarnished in a way that may never be washed away."
