Dense fog envelops many states including Delhi, trains running late, flights also affected


On Friday morning, many states of the country including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Assam were seen in the grip of dense fog. Traffic has been affected due to low visibility.


Delhi Airport has issued an alert for passengers due to fog. It has been said that some flights may be affected due to low visibility.


The airport wrote in a post on Instagram that at present all flights are flying on time. But passengers should keep getting information from the airline regarding their journey.


The temperature in Delhi as of Friday morning was 9.6 degrees Celsius, making it the fifth cold day in a row for the National Capital.


At 8 am, the Palam airport in Delhi reported a 0 m visibility, while the Safdarjung Airport in New Delhi reported a 50-metre visibility. Both the airports are not used for commercial flight operations. 


As per the CPCB, the Air Quality Index is at 309 at the Lodhi Road station, categorised as 'Very Poor'.


While SpiceJet said all flights coming in and going to Amritsar and Guwahati are affected due to bad weather, IndiGo issued a travel advisory with special focus on the Delhi, Amritsar, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Guwahati routes.


Airlines urged travellers to check flight schedules while planning their journey, while also warning that flights might be cancelled if the visibility remains poor.


Many trains are running late due to fog at New Delhi Railway Station.


At the same time, the Indian Meteorological Department has also issued a warning about the weather.


It was told that dense fog will prevail in Delhi on Friday and the minimum temperature can reach 8 degrees Celsius. This may increase the cold in Delhi in the coming days.


The Meteorological Department has said that there is also a possibility of rain in the next few days. It had also given information about the weather in a post on X a day earlier.


It said that there is a possibility of dense fog and cold wave conditions in northwest and central India during the next 24 hours.
