Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, currently on a hunger strike, has agreed to receive medical assistance but remains steadfast in his decision to continue his indefinite fast.
Kaka Singh Kotra, a fellow farmer leader, confirmed that Dallewal accepted medical help following a written invitation from the Central government for talks.
However, Dallewal, whose fast-unto-death entered its 54th day, clarified that he will not end his indefinite fast till a legal guarantee on the minimum support price (MSP) for crops is given to the farmers.
Talks will be held on Feb 14
The central government will hold a meeting with the protesting farmers in Chandigarh on February 14, in which their demands will be discussed.
This meeting will mark an end to a stalemate over the resumption of a dialogue with the agitators, who have been demanding a legal guarantee on the MSP for crops.
