Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025 Stampede: The number of deaths in the Mahakumbh accident in Prayagraj has risen to 49. In this regard, the Maha Kumbh administration released the picture of 24 unidentified dead. At the same time, 24 people who died in this accident have not been identified yet.
Earlier, the death figure was given as 30. Yogi government had given this information in this regard. But 25 people who died in this were identified and five could not be identified.
The judicial inquiry commission constituted by the state government started its work from last Thursday itself. The members of the commission will visit the spot today i.e. on Friday. Official sources had told here that the three-member judicial commission constituted to investigate the Maha Kumbh accident has started work the very next day of its formation.
Probe panel to submit report in a month
The commission headed by retired Justice Harsh Kumar of Allahabad High Court also includes retired IAS officer D.K. Singh and retired IPS officer V.K. Gupta. The commission will have to submit the investigation report of the case within a month of its formation. According to the notification issued in this regard, the commission will investigate the causes and circumstances of the stampede. It will also give suggestions to prevent recurrence of such incident in future.
It is worth noting that 49 people have died and 60 others have been injured in the stampede that took place on Mauni Amavasya in Prayagraj Mahakumbh late last Tuesday night. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had constituted a three-member judicial commission to investigate the accident.
Today, Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has demanded from the state government to provide food, clothing, medical care and fuel in vehicles to provide relief to the devotees stranded in Mahakumbh. He said, "Supply of petrol and diesel should be ensured to the vehicles stranded for miles around Mahakumbh and across the state. Medicine shops should be allowed to remain open 24 hours a day.”
