There is no clue yet of the workers trapped in the coal mine of Assam for the last 30 hours. Now people's eyes are fixed on the Navy divers who have come from Visakhapatnam.
Assam's Mines and Minerals Minister Kaushik Roy, who was present at the spot, has given information about the workers trapped in the coal mine.
He said that there is up to 100 feet of water in the mine. Right now the rescue team could reach 50 feet in the water, Navy experts are needed for this. Therefore, the Navy team from Visakhapatnam has also reached here now.
An official of the rescue operation team said that this is a very difficult operation because the mine is filled with water up to a height of 100 feet.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed on social media platform X that naval divers have been called to assist in the rescue operation.
CM Sarma has confirmed that nine people, including a Nepali citizen, are trapped in the mine, although according to the workers who came out safely from the mine, 40 workers had gone inside on Monday morning and more than 15 people are still trapped.
These workers had gone to extract coal from a coal mine in Umrangso area of Dima Hasao district of Assam at around 8 am on Monday. To rescue these workers, NDRF divers went inside the mine 5 times at different times on Tuesday but without success.
Monday was the first day of coal extraction work this season from this mine located in the hilly area. An FIR has been registered in this case and one person has also been arrested.
