The BCCI has announced Team India for the upcoming T20 series against England.
The selection committee has given the captaincy to Surya Kumar Yadav for the men's team. Mohammed Shami has been named in the India squad for the T20I series against England, while Rishabh Pant and Shivam Dube have been dropped.
The 15 members of the team include Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel (vice-captain), Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakraborty, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar and Dhruv Patel (wicketkeeper).
Mohammad Shami was out of the Indian team after the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. Now he has been returned to the team for the next series.
Shami has not donned the Indian jersey since the 2023 World Cup final in Ahmedabad, following which he was sidelined due to an ankle injury requiring surgery. The 34-year-old pacer, who recently returned to competitive cricket, has featured in the Ranji Trophy, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and is currently playing in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The first match of the five-match series will be played in Kolkata on January 22.
The second match will be played in Chennai on January 25, the third match in Rajkot on January 28, the fourth match in Pune on January 31 and the last fifth match will be played in Mumbai on February 2.
