Congress MP from Wayanad, Kerala, Priyanka Gandhi reacted to the deteriorating health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a hunger strike.
Priyanka Gandhi said, "I appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give up his ego and immediately talk to the farmers and end Dallewal's hunger strike."
Priyanka Gandhi wrote on the social media platform X, "Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on a hunger strike for 45 days. His condition is continuously deteriorating, but the BJP government is not ready to take care of him.
"This stubborness had taken the lives of 750 farmers in the farmers' movement. Why such cruelty towards farmers?"
The doctors present at the protest site had told on Monday that his blood pressure had gone low.
Farmers have been protesting at the Khanauri border and Shambhu border since February under the banner of the Joint Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.
The protesting farmers are demanding a legal guarantee of minimum support price for their crops from the government.
