Rahul Gandhi is known for his efforts to connect with the common people, often following the philosophy of "Jaisa Desh, Vaisa Bhes"—an idea akin to “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” From having lunch in humble huts to visiting local shops, he often connects with common people to understand their lives better. Recently, Rahul Gandhi visited an ice cream shop in New Delhi, sparking a unique discussion.
Rahul tried his hand at preparing cold coffee
Rahul Gandhi stopped by a Keventers ice cream shop in Patel Nagar, Delhi, where he not only relished cold coffee but also tried his hand at preparing it. Sharing a video of the visit on social media platform X, he highlighted his interaction with the shop’s young owners.
In the video, Rahul tells how the Keventers brand, with its historical roots, has been revamped to appeal to the younger generation and contemporary markets.
He hailed the business model, writing, “How do you shake up a legacy brand for a new generation and a new market? The young founders of Keventers shared some valuable insights with me recently. Play-fair businesses like Keventers have driven our economic growth for generations. We must do more to support them.”
During his visit, Rahul also delved into the future plans for the brand. He asked the owners, Aman and Agastya, about their investment plans.
Challenges of small workers
Rahul Gandhi turned the conversation to the challenges of small workers. Giving the example of a cobbler named Ramchait, whom he had met in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, he pointed out how banks often favuor large businesses over smaller ones.
“In our country, banks easily give loans to big businessmen, but small workers do not get same treatment,” he said.
Elderly woman recalls meeting Rajiv Gandhi
During his visit to the shop, an unexpected incident added a personal touch to the visit. An elderly woman standing outside the shop caught Rahul Gandhi’s attention. Inviting her inside, Rahul inquired about her well-being. The woman shared that her home was located above the shop and recalled meeting his father, Rajiv Gandhi, during his tenure at the Race Course residence.
When Rahul offered to visit her home, they discovered that the keys to her door were misplaced. In response, Rahul assured her, saying, “I will definitely come to your home next time.”
