A major accident took place on Tuesday morning in Baraut town of Baghpat town in Bagpat district of UP. On the occasion of Nirvana Laddu festival of Lord Adinath, the wooden scaffolding collapsed in the Mana Stambh complex. Seven devotees died after being buried under the collapsed stairs.
The dead include 5 people including 2 women while more than 80 devotees were injured. There is a lot of uproar against the postmortem of the bodies of the dead. Community members and and families do not want postmortem. DM, SP were surrounded. There was a heated argument.
SP Arpit Vijayvargiya has reached the spot with the police force and is engaged in relief and rescue work. Apart from women, men and children are also among those injured in the accident. At the same time, when an ambulance was not available, the injured were taken to the hospital in an e-rickshaw.
The deceased have been identified as Tarshpal Jain son Hukamchand 74 years Gandhi Road Imli, Amit son Naresh 40 Binauli Road, Usha wife Surendra 65, Arun Jain Master Keshavram 48, Shilpi Jain daughter Sunil Jain 25 years, Vipin son Surendra 44 and Kamlesh wife Surendra 65.
65 feet high platform was built
According to the information, this tragic accident took place on Gandhi Road in Baraut city. The wooden scaffolding of the Mana Stambh built on the ground of Shri Digambar Jain Degree College broke. A religious program was to be held here on Tuesday under the Nirvana Mahotsav. For this a 65 feet high platform was built.
As soon as the devotees started climbing the temporary stairs installed to perform Abhishek of the idol seated in the Manastambh, it collapsed. Due to this more than 80 devotees got buried under it. Seven died. As soon as the accident happened, there was a stampede among the devotees. The injured were admitted to the hospital. On receiving the information, SP Baghpat Arpit Vijayvargiya reached the spot with the police force and started the relief and rescue work.
CM Yogi took cognizance of the accident
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the accident in Baghpat. The Chief Minister has immediately taken the injured to the hospital and directed the district administration officials to provide them with proper treatment. Along with this, he has also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
