Bhagwant Mann's statement on American plane carrying immigrants landing in Amritsar: What Cong, Akali Dal and BJP said?

Amidst reports of another group of Indian immigrants being sent from America, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said that the Modi government wants to humiliate Punjab. On Saturday, the Congress and the Akali Dal also supported Bhagwant Mann's statement and said that the plane could have been landed in Delhi or anywhere else.

Congress leader Manish Tewari supported Mann's statement and asked that the plane could have been landed in Delhi or anywhere else. Why only in Amritsar every time?

Manish Tewari said, "Why are these planes landing in Punjab? What kind of message are you trying to give? Are you trying to give the message that every illegal immigrant coming to America is from Punjab? In this matter, the Punjab Chief Minister is absolutely right."

Tewari said, "There were some people from Gujarat and Haryana too. This plane could have been landed in Delhi or anywhere else. Why only in Amritsar every time?"

Now foreign planes are being landed in Amritsar to defame us: Ranike

At the same time, former Punjab minister and Akali Dal leader Gulzar Singh Ranike has also supported Bhagwant Mann's statement.

He said, "It is the misfortune of Punjab that the central governments have always tried to defame Punjab. Punjab is a border state, especially Amritsar district which is near the border, landing a plane here is a conspiracy to defame Punjab and show that only Punjabis are illegal immigrants. The planes can land anywhere else."

Gulzar Singh said, "We are demanding that international flights be started from Amritsar, but the Center does not allow it. But now foreign planes are being landed in Amritsar to defame us. The planes can land in Gujarat, Haryana or any other international airport. People have gone from all the states, not just Punjab."

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had raised this issue on Friday and said that this is a 'BJP conspiracy to defame Punjab'.

Punjab govt should tell what action was taken against travel agents: BJP

However, Punjab BJP has said that most of the people who are coming after being deported from America are from Punjab.

Punjab BJP general secretary Anil Sarin has slammed the statement of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann amid reports of Indian immigrants living in America being sent back to India. He said that the Punjab government should tell what action was taken against the travel agents who send Indians to America illegally.

Anil Sarin said, "There is no doubt that most of the people who are coming after being deported to India are from Punjab. Earlier, a plane carrying about 100 passengers came, out of which about 33 were from Punjab and today the plane that is coming with 119 people, out of which 66 are from Punjab."

He said, "Politics is being done unnecessarily on the issue of where the plane landed. The issue is who sent these people to America illegally. Whether they are from Punjab or other areas is immaterial. These people went abroad illegally amnd had spent lakhs of rupees. They sold their land, collected money with great difficulty and paid to unscrupulous travel agents."

Anil Sarin asked, "The Punjab government should tell what action was taken against those travel agents. The 33 people who came back earlier went through which travel agents, what action has been taken on this till now, the Punjab government should tell."

“I strongly condemn the kind of language the Punjab Chief Minister used for the Prime Minister.”
