Atishi's Gift for 12,000 MCD Contract Employees

New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is set to announce the permanent status of 12,000 contract employees during its House meeting on Tuesday. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi shared this information on Sunday.

During a press meet along with Mayor Mahesh Khinchi, Deputy Mayor Ravinder Bhardwaj, and Leader of the House Mukesh Goyal, former Delhi CM Atishi emphasized the AAP-led MCD's commitment to regularizing temporary employees.

Atishi said, "In the last two years, we have made 4,500 contract employees permanent. Now, during the MCD House meeting on February 25, we will regularize more than 12,000 employees across all departments, including sanitation workers, junior engineers, senior engineers, gardeners, and other contract employees."

Atishi drew a comparison to the AAP-led government in Punjab, where temporary teachers are also being made permanent. She highlighted the AAP's dedication to employees' rights.

Atishi is also slammed the BJP, alleging that the party often makes excuses to evade fulfilling its commitments.

She remarked, "I anticipated that the BJP would attempt to sidestep its promises. Therefore, prior to the appointment of the new Chief Minister, we ensured that the Delhi government clearly presented its financial position."

Furthermore, Atishi underscored Delhi's economic growth under the Aam Aadmi Party. She said that when the party first took office in 2015, the city's budget was Rs 30,000 crore. She asserted, "Despite not receiving any financial assistance from the central government, we have strengthened Delhi's economy. Today, the budget for 2024-25 has reached Rs 77,000 crore, marking an increase of approximately 2.5 times over the last decade."
