A fire erupted in the pandals of the Shri Ram Charit Manas Seva Pravachan Mandal camp, located between Sector 18 and 19 of the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, around 6 PM on Saturday. Upon receiving the alert, several fire brigade vehicles promptly arrived at the scene, managing to bring the fire under control within about half an hour. Many tents were gutted in the fire.
Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties related to this incident, and the cause of the fire is noit known. The high volume of attendees at the fair caused a delay in the arrival of the fire brigade.
This marks the fourth fire incident during the Maha Kumbh Mela. Earlier, on January 19, a fire in the Gita Press camp in Sector 19 resulted in the destruction of about 180 cottages. Another fire occurred on January 30 in Sector 22, damaging 15 tents, and on February 7, a fire in Sector 18 led to the burning of 22 pandals along Shankaracharya Marg.
Eyewitnesses reported that a fire also affected the Shri Ram Charit Manas Seva Pravachan Mandal camp, where attendees had already evacuated. The blaze consumed chairs, tents, and food items, with three bags of cash stored in the camp. It is believed one bag was secured while the other two may have been lost in the fire.
