The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, graced a MassWedding ceremony, organised by Shri Bageshwar Jan Seva Samiti, at Gadha, Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh today (February 26, 2025).
Addressing the gathering, the President said that today, as our country moves from women-development to women-led development, we must all contribute to making our daughters and sisters strong and capable. She urged people to pay attention to women’s education, health, and safety. She said that our small efforts would empower them. She also advised women to make continuous efforts for their education and self-reliance.
Saints have shown the path to the people for centuries
President Murmu said that in our tradition, saints have shown the path to the people for centuries. They have raised their voice against the social evils prevalent in contemporary society. They have also raised their voice against discrimination based on caste, gender, etc. Be it Guru Nanak, Sant Ravidas, Sant Kabir Das, Meera Bai, or Sant Tukaram, all have inspired people to follow the right path through their teachings. Their contribution to Indian society has given them a respectful place. She said that contemporary spiritual leaders could play an important role in building a self-reliant, harmonious, and environment-friendly India.
Governor and CM also bless newlyweds
Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel expressed his gratitude to President Smt. Droupadi Murmu for personally attending the wedding and blessing the bride and groom of the state. Governor Shri Patel said that such events are exemplary for the society. Continuous work is being done to benefit every section of the society.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, while congratulating President Smt. Droupadi Murmu on her visit to Madhya Pradesh, said that it is our good fortune that continuous work is being done to remove social evils with the blessings of Hanuman ji in Bageshwar Dham. Breaking the caste walls existing in the society is the need of the hour. Caste barriers have been broken due to the efforts of Pandit Dhirendra Shastri and grooms of different castes are sitting together on the mare.
CM said that fighting against caste-based inequalities, Bageshwar Dham is setting new records by organizing mass marriages in the presence of the trinity of government, power and saints in front of the society. There is a great need to present such examples of increasing love, harmony and social harmony in the society. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav congratulated Pandit Dhirendra Shastri for such resolutions.
