Rekha Gupta is poised to take office as the Chief Minister of Delhi, having secured her position as an MLA for the first time from the Shalimar Bagh constituency. Her candidacy was proposed by the RSS and subsequently accepted by the BJP.
The official announcement regarding her appointment is anticipated during the BJP Legislature Party meeting scheduled for 7 pm today, following the assembly election results announced 11 days ago.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new Chief Minister will take place on Thursday, February 20, at 12:35 pm at Ramlila Maidan. The invitation from the Delhi Chief Secretary also indicates that ministers will be sworn in alongside the Chief Minister.
Sources suggest that the BJP may consider a coalition involving Dalit, Purvanchal, and Jat representatives, with the possibility of appointing two deputy chief ministers. Approximately 30,000 guests are expected to attend the event.
BJP President JP Nadda has confirmed that the new Chief Minister will be chosen from the elected MLAs, with cabinet minister appointments likely to be disclosed during the meeting.
In response to the upcoming announcement, AAP leader Gopal Rai expressed his hope for clarity. He said invitation cards for the swearing-in ceremony have been distributed but the CM's identity remaining undisclosed. He urged the BJP to resolve the uncertainty today.
