Milkipur by-election, voting continues… Will BJP be able to take revenge of Faizabad in Milkipur… Or will Awadhesh Prasad's son be able to save the fort?

Voting has commenced for the by-election in the Milkipur assembly seat of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The primary contest is between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The SP has nominated Ajit Prasad, while the BJP has put forward Chandrabhanu Paswan as its candidate.

Notably, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has chosen not to contest this by-election, and the Congress Party has extended its support to the Samajwadi Party candidate. Additionally, the Azad Samaj Party Kanshiram has fielded its own candidate for this election.

Voting began today, Wednesday, February 5, at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm. About 3,70,000 voters are eligible to cast their votes, including 4,811 first-time voters. The results of the election are expected to be announced on February 8. This by-election is viewed as a significant contest between the SP and BJP, with the Milkipur seat being reserved for the Scheduled Caste category.

SP MP Awadhesh Prasad has raised concerns regarding alleged irregularities during the voting process. He claims that the BJP has exerted pressure to influence the election, stating that SP workers have faced intimidation at polling booths, with reports of at least five SP workers being detained. Prasad emphasized the importance of adhering to the Constitution and the electoral code of conduct during this crucial election.
