Did AAP-Congress Split Led to AAP’s Delhi Election Debacle, what did INDIA alliance leaders say?

After Aam Aadmi Party's defeat in Delhi Assembly elections-2025, some leaders of India Alliance have said that the reason for AAP's defeat is that Congress and AAP contested the elections separately.

Many leaders of India Alliance say that had Congress and AAP had fought together against BJP, the results could have been different.

Congress has also given its reaction on this issue. On the other hand, BJP has taunted India Alliance by raising questions on its future.

Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah did not name anyone but posted a video on Instagram with a taunting message. He wrote, "Fight among yourselves more!!!" It is also written in this video, "Fight to your heart's content. Finish each other off."

On the other hand, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) said that if AAP and Congress had contested in alliance, the results would have been different.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, "BJP is the political rival of AAP and Congress. Both should have come together. If both had come together, BJP's defeat would have been decided in the first hour of counting."

Sanjay Raut once again stressed on this point while talking to the media on Sunday. However, this time he said, "All the people of the opposition will definitely take the country forward. Today we are not in power, but we will keep raising the voice of the people."

He said, "India Block is there and will remain. We will make it stronger."

The Communist Party of India also reiterated the same thing. CPI said that the results of Delhi elections are a lesson. CPI's D Raja said, "This happened due to lack of unity among the parties of India alliance, the results of Delhi elections are a lesson."

Some leaders have defended India alliance

However, amid this anger, some leaders also defended the India alliance.

Samajwadi Party President and former CM of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav said that India alliance will become stronger in the coming days.

Talking to the media on Sunday, he said, "We wanted AAP to win the Delhi elections, but BJP won. In democracy, we accept whatever decision the public makes."

Akhilesh Yadav said, "India alliance will become stronger. We and you people learn a lot from our defeat many times. Learning from defeat paves the way for the future."

On the question of the future of India alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha said that this alliance was formed in view of the Lok Sabha elections, all the parties already knew about it.

He said, "We had formed India for the possibility of an alternative government at the center. Even then all the parties knew that we would face each other many times in the states."

Congress has also reacted to the question of Congress and AAP not contesting the elections together.

Supriya Shrinet reacted sharply

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet reacted sharply to this and said that it is not the responsibility of Congress to make AAP win.

She wrote on X, "It is not the responsibility of Congress to make AAP win. We are a political party, not an NGO."

Supriya Shrinet has shared a video on her X account, in which she is seen saying on a news channel, "We have not taken the responsibility for making Aam Aadmi Party win... Aam Aadmi Party has lost due to its failures."

However, some Congress leaders have emphasized that had Congress and AAP had contested the elections together, the results could have been different.

Congress leader Ravinder Sharma said, "AAP had already announced. Kejriwal ji's tweet of December 11 says that AAP will contest the elections alone, will not contest with anyone."

He said, "Today the difference in votes shows that their assessment proved wrong. If they had fought together, there are 14 seats in which the alliance would have won. Congress has got many times more votes than the difference in defeat between BJP and AAP.”

Congress MP from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, Kishori Lal Sharma has also said that if AAP and Congress had fought together, the results would have been different.
