Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut offered guidance to the leaders of Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after their recent defeat in Delhi Assembly Election-2025. He emphasized the importance of collaboration within the India Alliance. He said Congress is a significant and senior partner in this coalition.
Raut stated, "Rahul Gandhi is our leader. However, those of us who have been in Maharashtra for years understand the necessity of working together in the alliance. We recognize that it is a collective responsibility."
Raut pointed out the missed opportunity for dialogue. He said, "It was particularly the responsibility of the larger partner, Congress, to engage in discussions. Aam Aadmi Party lost power, and Congress gained nothing from this situation."
Modi’s message applies also to the INDIA bloc
Lamenting the discord within the opposition, Raut said, "PM Narendra Modi’s message -- 'if united, we are safe' -- applies not just to the nation but also to the INDIA bloc. The alliance fought the Lok Sabha elections together across states, but its strategies failed in the assembly elections, delivering a setback. Does this mean we should cede state elections to the BJP? The INDIA bloc is visible only in Parliament right now, but it must unite and take a strong stand on critical issues."
Raut suggested that if both Congress and AAP had taken the time to communicate, the outcome might have been different. He said that the BJP's victory could have been avoided.
Raut urged Congress to embrace its role as the elder partner in the alliance with patience and humility. He said, "There should be no arrogance in alliance politics."
