Chaiti Chhath Puja 2025 begins from April 1, know on which day is Nahai Khay and Kharna, how the rituals must be performed


Chaiti Chhath Puja 2025: Chaiti Chhath Puja is starting from Tuesday, April 1. It will conclude on April 4, 2025. The four-day grand festival of folk faith 'Chaiti Chhath' is celebrated twice a year. Once in the month of Chaitra and second time in the month of Kartik. \


The great festival of Surya worship, Chaiti Chhath, is celebrated with faith especially in Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. The fast of Chaiti Chhath is observed for the happiness and longevity of children and happiness, prosperity and well-being in the family.


It is said that Chhathi Maiya is the sister of Lord Sun. Therefore, Chhathi Maiya and Lord Sun are worshiped on this day. This fast starts with Nahai-Khai and ends by offering Arghya to the rising Sun.


Chhathi Maiya and Sun God are worshiped in Chhath and both women and men observe a tough fast of 36 hours. Although this festival is celebrated all over the country. When is Chaiti Chhath


According to the Panchang, this time Chaiti Chhath will be celebrated on Thursday, 3 April 2025. This fast starts with Nahai Khaye, after which the devotees follow a satvik life for the next four days.


Nahai-Khai


The first day of Chhath Mahaparva i.e. Nahai-Khai will be on 1 April 2025. In Nahai-Khai, the fasting people will take bath in holy rivers or pure water and will have satvik food. After having food, they will take a vow of fasting with a pure mind.


Kharna


The second day of Chhath Mahaparva is Kharna, which marks the beginning of Nirjala fast. This will be done on 2 April 2025. On this day, after sunset, the fasting people take prasad of jaggery kheer, roti and fruit. Then they take a pledge of 36 hours of Nirjala fast.


Sandhya Arghya 


On the third day of Chhath, Arghya is offered to the setting sun, this will be done on 3 April 2025. For this the devotees reach Chhath Ghats and offer Arghya to the setting sun.


Usha Arghya 


The last day of Chaiti Chhath i.e. Usha Arghya will be done on 4 April 2025. On this day, the devotees offer Arghya to the rising sun and with this the four-day strict fast ends. Then the fast is broken.
