3 terrorists have been killed in the encounter going on since March 27 in Rajbagh of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir. 3 security personnel have also been martyred in the firing. They are the jawans of the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police. They were injured yesterday, they died today during treatment.
People's Anti Fascist Front, a proxy organization of Jaish-e-Mohammed, has taken responsibility for the firing on the police. Security forces have resumed the search operation on Friday morning. Joint teams of Army, BSF, CRPF and SOG are conducting search operations with the help of thermal imaging, drones, helicopters, bulletproof vehicles and sniffer dogs.
The Rising Star Corps of the Indian Army said in its statement, "We salute the indomitable courage and bravery of the Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel who attained martyrdom during the ongoing encounter in Kathua. Their bravery and dedication will always be remembered."
The martyred soldiers include Tariq Ahmed, Jaswant Singh, Balwinder Singh. They were referred to Jammu Medical College (JMC). DSP Dheeraj Singh and 4 other injured are being treated at the Army Hospital in Udhampur.
According to sources, the security forces had received information about about 9 terrorists hiding in Jakhole village of Ghati Juthana area of Rajbagh. After this, the security forces started a joint operation to surround the terrorists. 7 jawans were injured in the firing.
