The UP government has given strict instructions that Eid namaz should not be offered on the roads. The police is on alert to follow this order. Police have issued separate advisories in Sambhal, Ballia and Meerut.
In Sambhal, there will be a ban on offering namaz on roofs and roads. ASP Shrishchandra said, Namaz will be offered only inside the mosques and Idgah. All festivals will be celebrated as per the rules. There will be no disturbance anywhere. Adequate police force will also be deployed for security arrangements.
CO Anuj Chaudhary said - We are in administrative service. It is our responsibility to do our work properly. We would not want any ruckus or trouble at all. If there is any problem, you will have to face it and we will also have to face it. The work we do impartially should not be taken otherwise. We just want that we should remain free and you should also remain free.
Meerut Police said, Namaaz on the road will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Passports will be confiscated. Licenses will be canceled.
But, this order of Meerut Police did not go well with NDA ally and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary. He has compared the police order to the policing of Orwellian 1984. Along with this, he has also quoted an article from the mouthpiece of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Organiser.
Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Chaudhary said, 'I mean that the police should not say that we will confiscate passports. The administration can talk about keeping the roads empty, but for this, there should be a sensitive dialogue with the people of the community.'
On the ban on Namaz on the road, BJP MP Ravi Kishan said in Delhi- Celebrate your festivals without troubling the public. All the clerics and maulanas say that Namaz is accepted in the mosque. Who has started the practice of offering it on roads?
BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said in Delhi, it has become a fashion to offer Namaz on the road. Harmony is essential for the prosperity of the country and the state.
Congress MP Imran Masood said in Delhi, what is the need for legal action for this? Muslims should also understand this. The road belongs to the government. If the government is refusing to offer namaz on the road, then you should not offer namaz.
Meerut SP City said the police is keeping an eye. On March 26, the police in Meerut has issued an order regarding Eid namaz on the roads. The police has banned offering namaz in public places and on the roads. He said if any person is found offering namaz on the roads, an FIR will be lodged. Also, it will be recommended to cancel the passport and driving license of such people.
Police said last year also some people had offered namaz on the road, due to which a case was registered against 200 people. More than 80 people were identified. This time also the police is keeping an eye on such people.
