The Immigration and Foreigners Bill 2025 was passed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Responding to the discussion on the bill, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, Bangladeshis and Rohingyas are infiltrating from West Bengal.
He said all those who come to contribute to the system of India, for business and education, are welcome. But Rohingyas and Bangladeshis come here to spread unrest, such people will be dealt with strictly. If someone comes with the mindset of harming India, then he will not be tolerated.
He said, 'Modi government will stop only those people from coming to India whose intentions are wrong. This country is not a Dharamshala. Information of all foreign citizens coming to India will be maintained. Which route are they coming from. Where are they staying. What are they doing.
Immigration and Foreigners Bill was introduced in Lok Sabha on 11 March. 30 MPs from the ruling and opposition parties put forth their views on this.
Shah said there are some sensitive places on our border, army bases, they could not be left open for the whole world. Intruders were stopped earlier also, but there was no rule for it then. We have the courage to stop them by making rules.
There will be solid information of foreigners coming to India: From the security point of view, we are making arrangements in this bill to end drug cartels, cartels of intruders, hawala traders. Passport-visa will be mandatory in the Passport Act. Registration of foreigners will be made more robust.
Shah said earlier these laws were made in Britain, now they are made in the new Parliament. Laws related to immigrants in 1920, 1930 and 1946 were made in the British Parliament. The law of India is now being made in the new Parliament of India.
