MP: Narmada ghats in Jabalpur will be developed like Saryu ghats


Maa Narmada ghats in Jabalpur will be developed like Saryu river ghats in Ayodhya. Madhya Pradesh Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh visited the ghats built on Saryu river in Ayodhya on Friday.


The study team led by Minister Singh minutely inspected the architecture of the newly constructed ghats on Saryu river, Rampath, Ram ki Paadi, parking arrangements, beautification, mural work and arrangements made for the convenience of tourists and devotees. On the instructions of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 


Chief Engineer Rajesh Kumar from UPPCL in Ayodhya, Executive Mechanical of Saryu Canal Division Paras Nath and Executive Engineer of Public Works Department SP Bharti gave detailed information to Minister Rakesh Singh about the newly constructed ghats on the banks of river Saryu. 


During the visit, the officials gave detailed information on the facilities developed for tourists on the banks of Saryu, the arrangements made for the devotees, the mural walls built to depict the events related to the life of Lord Ram in a pictorial manner. 


During the visit, Minister Singh told the officials of Road Development Corporation and the DPR making agency that the ghats to be built on the banks of Narmada river in Jabalpur should be developed as ideal models of religious, cultural and tourist facilities. He also said that in the construction of ghats, special attention should be paid to the dignity of Mother Narmada, faith of devotees and environmental balance.


Boat terminal will also be established


It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav had announced the construction of ghats on the lines of Saryu on the banks of Narmada river in Jabalpur. Minister Rakesh Singh has entrusted the responsibility of preparing the DPR of this ambitious project to Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation. 


On the basis of the plan prepared so far and discussions held at various levels, the minister said that a comprehensive plan is being prepared for the beautification and development of the major ghats of Jabalpur along the Narmada river. Under this scheme, along with strengthening the infrastructure of the ghats, many facilities will be developed to protect the environment and promote tourism. 


Under the proposed scheme, there is a plan to set up boat terminals at Tilwara Ghat and Kalidham Ghat, which will promote water tourism, as well as floating decks will be built at Sai Tirtham, Kharighat, Gwarighat and Jilherighat. Organized parking areas will be created near all the major ghats, which will ease the traffic system.
