What did Supreme Court say while dismissing plea seeking FIR against Justice Yashwant Verma?

Supreme Court has dismissed the petition seeking FIR against Justice Yashwant Verma. This petition was filed by Advocate Mathews J Nedumpara. His petition was termed 'premature' by a two-judge bench headed by Justice Abhay Oak.

'Premature petition' means a petition filed before a final decision or action is taken in the related case.

Justice Abhay Oak said, "After the completion of the in-house investigation, many options are open. The CJI can order the registration of an FIR. Today is not the time to consider this. All options are open after the in-house report."

It has been alleged that a huge amount of cash was found from Justice Yashwant Verma's official residence in New Delhi. On March 14, a store room in his residence caught fire, where a large amount of cash was allegedly found.

At the same time, Justice Yashwant Verma claims that he or his family members never kept cash in the store room, and a conspiracy is being hatched against him.

Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna has formed a committee of three judges to investigate this matter. It has also been decided that Justice Yashwant Verma should not be given any judicial responsibility for some time.

SC tells Allahabad HC CJ not to assign judicial work to Justice Verma

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has given instruction to the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court in the transfer case of Justice Yashwant Verma.

The Supreme Court has asked the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court not to assign any judicial work to Justice Yashwant Verma after he takes over as the judge of Allahabad High Court.

The Central Government has also issued a notification to send Justice Yashwant Verma back to Allahabad High Court from Delhi, which is based on the recommendations of the Supreme Court Collegium on March 24.

The order of Justice Verma's transfer from the Center has come despite the opposition of Allahabad High Court Bar Association.
