Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy loses temper, issued this warning to scribes posting derogatory content about public representatives

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has issued a stern warning to persons allegedly posing as journalists and posting derogatory content about public representatives. CM Reddy said that such people will be stripped and paraded in public. It is worth noting that recently, while referring to the arrest of two women journalists for allegedly posting derogatory content about him and his family, Revanth Reddy lost his temper in the Assembly on Saturday.

The CM questioned that 'We are in public life and are ready for criticism, but why are our family members being targeted?'

CM lost his temper

Speaking on this issue, the CM said that as long as the toxic culture of spreading derogatory content under the guise of journalism is allowed to flourish on social media, he will not remain silent. He said that do not think that I am silent because I am the CM. I will strip you naked and get you beaten up. At my behest, lakhs of people will come out on the streets to beat you. I have respect for the Constitution, so I am silent. Don't consider this my weakness. Whatever I do, I will do it within the ambit of the law.

Instructed to prepare the list

CM Revanth Reddy said that he is ready to discuss with the journalist unions and if necessary, he will also make a law to stop such objectionable news content. He has asked IT Minister D Sridhar Babu and Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy to prepare a list of accredited journalists. He said that the journalist unions have been asked to give the list of journalists. Those who are not in the list are not journalists. We consider them criminals. We will treat them the way criminals should be treated. They will be stripped naked and beaten. The punishment will be within the ambit of the law.

What is the matter?

In Telangana, two YouTube women journalists had to pay heavily for criticizing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Both the women were arrested by Hyderabad Police on the basis of a complaint by a Congress worker.

According to the police, YouTube channel Pulse Digital News Network managing director Revathi Pogadanda (44) and an employee Tanvi Yadav alias Bandi Sandhya (25) have been arrested in connection with an “offensive” video shot at the headquarters of the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS). Police say the two women were involved in “social media trolling” and were also involved in two previous cases, so they have been sent to 14 days of judicial custody.

The complainant, who is the state secretary of the Congress social media cell, had alleged that a video was being circulated on X in which a representative of Pulse News could be seen making derogatory and abusive remarks against CM Reddy while interviewing a man.

He alleged that it was a deliberate attempt by the channel to defame people and spread false propaganda. He said such posts could create divisions in society and disturb law and order.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and SIT) P Vishwaprasad said the alleged video was shot in February at the BRS headquarters in Banjara Hills and released on March 10, just before the budget session, as per a well-planned scheme to insult, defame and abuse the CM. The content of the video is obscene and derogatory, which crosses all levels of decency.

The person who was interviewed and abused the CM will be identified and a case will also be registered against him, the official said. He said this YouTube channel has been running for the last two months and as part of a plan, the reporter is inciting people to abuse the CM.

ACP Vishwaprasad said anyone who crosses all levels of decency has to face the law. He said the YouTube channel works in collaboration with the BRS.

The official said freedom of expression should be respected in the same way as a person's reputation and privacy should be respected. He said that it should be in accordance with the standards of society.
