Police team attacked in MP's Mauganj: ASI among 2 dead, police station in-charge, tehsildar among injured


Police attacked in Mauganj : There was a huge uproar in Mauganj district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday (15 March) evening. The angry mob first took Sunny Dwivedi of the village hostage and killed him. Then attacked the police team that came to rescue him. ASI Ramcharan Gautam died in the attack. While, 9 policemen including Shahpur police station in-charge Sandeep Bharti and Hanumana Tehsildar Kumare Lal Panika were injured.


This incident took place in Gadara village of Shahpur police station area around 6 pm on Saturday. The villagers were angry over the death of Ashok Adivasi two months ago. Ashok died in a road accident, but the family was accusing Sunny Dwivedi of murder. When the police did not arrest him, the tribal family took him hostage at 4 pm on Saturday evening. While beating him, they started talking about calling the Collector-SP on the spot.


In this incident that took place in Gadra village of Mauganj district, SAF's ASI Ramcharan Gautam and the abducted person Sunny Dwivedi have died. Whereas, Shahpur SHO Sandeep Bharti and Tehsildar Kumare Lal Panika have suffered serious head injuries. Tehsildar's hands and legs are also fractured. Women police officers saved their lives by locking themselves in the room.


These people were also injured in the attack


The mob beat up Hanumana Teahlisdar Kumare Lal Panika with sticks. His driver Dinesh Goswami said that he has a serious head injury. His condition is critical. ASI Jawahar Singh Yadav and Brihaspati Patel are also seriously injured. At present, there is an atmosphere of tension in the village. Additional police force has been called from Rewa and Maihar district.


Womee officers locked them in room


SDOP Ankita Shulya and SI Aarti Verma locked themselves in the room to save their lives. The police force fired and took out both the women officers. The body of Sunny Dwivedi was also taken out. SP Rasna Thakun has appealed to the villagers to maintain peace.


What is the matter?


Ashok Adivasi died in a road accident in Gadra village 2 months ago. The family accused Shani Dwivedi of Ashok's murder and demanded his arrest. When the police did not arrest him, the Adivasi family caught Sunny Dwivedi, locked him in a room and beat him up badly. Due to which Shani died.


Section 163 enforced in Gadra village


Collector Ajay Srivastava said, the villagers had mobilized over the dispute between two groups. Currently, Section 163 has been implemented in Gadra village. Additional police force has been called from Sidhi and Rewa districts to control the situation. Satna police has also been alerted.


Deceased's brother and father were also attacked


The mob also beat up deceased Sunny Dwivedi's brother Rohan and father Rajneesh Dwivedi. Rohan told the police, "Someone called my father and informed him about the incident. When I reached there, the accused said that they will not leave Sunny until the SP and Collector arrive. They beat me up. Meanwhile, my father and my sister also arrived. The accused beat them up too."


Rajneesh Dwivedi said, "Sunny used to come home by 12 noon, but on Saturday his mobile was switched off. After 10 minutes, I got a call that he has been held hostage in Ashok Kol's house. When we reached there, the accused attacked us. We saved our lives by locking ourselves in the room."
