Tensions Rise in Nagpur Over Dispute Involving Aurangzeb's Tomb, Stones Pelted, Vehicles Vandalized, Many Injured


Nagpur: Tension has arisen between two groups in Nagpur in Maharashtra due to a dispute over Aurangzeb's tomb. In the Mahal area, members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal protested against the site, leading to confrontations as both groups came face to face in the evening.


The situation escalated as an angry mob began pelting stones and vandalizing vehicles. In response to the rising tension, police deployed tight security measures and resorted to firing tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.


During the unrest, a crane was set on fire. Stones and bricks were thrown at law enforcement officials. The police are actively working to control the situation.


DCP Niketan Kadam was attacked with an axe. Many people are injured in the violence. Police have detained 15 people.


Gadkari urges the people to maintain peace


Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has urged the people of Nagpur to maintain peace. He expressed disappointment over the conflict and emphasized Nagpur's reputation for harmony, calling on residents to cooperate with the administration to restore calm.


Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also appealed to citizens for their cooperation with law enforcement. He highlighted the city’s tradition of sharing joys and sorrows together. He urged the public not to believe in rumors and to work with the administration during this tense time.


Maharashtra State Minority Commission Chairman Pyare Khan echoed these sentiments. He expressed regret over the situation and called on the people of Nagpur to maintain peace and assist in controlling the unrest.
