US President Donald Trump has issued a warning to European Union countries, stating that if they do not eliminate the 50 percent tariff on American whiskey, he will retaliate by imposing a 200 percent tariff on liquor imported from their nations.
In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump claimed that this action would benefit American companies. He stated, "If the 50 percent tariff on American whiskey is not removed immediately, then high tariffs will be imposed on all wines, champagne, and alcoholic products coming from France and other EU-represented countries."
Trump further emphasized, "This will be very good for the wine and champagne business in America."
Additionally, he has announced plans to impose tariffs on several countries starting April 2, matching the tariffs those countries have placed on American goods.
