What Zelenskyy said after a meeting with British PM Keir Starmer following a showdown with Trump?


Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has got Britain's support after a heated debate with US President Donald Trump over the Russia-Ukraine war.


British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at 10 Downing Street in England that he has "full support from the United Kingdom".


After reaching Britain, Zelensky told Keir Starmer that he is happy that his country has found "such friends". Zelensky also thanked the United Kingdom for standing with him in this war.


Earlier, Zelensky met US President Donald Trump at the White House, the conversation between the two leaders turned into a heated debate.


Signed a £2.26 billion loan


Zelensky and Keir Starmer also signed a £2.26 billion loan for Ukrainian military supplies, to be repaid using profits from Russian assets that are currently frozen.


Kier Starmer will host a summit of European leaders on Sunday to discuss efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war as well as broader European security.


The two leaders spoke about the challenges facing Ukraine and Europe, coordination with international partners, and efforts to achieve a just peace with strong security guarantees.


In a post on X, Zelenskyy wrote, “A meaningful and warm meeting with Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer. During our talks, we discussed the challenges facing Ukraine and all of Europe, coordination with partners, concrete steps to strengthen Ukraine’s position, and ending the war with a just peace, along with robust security guarantees.” 


Zelensky will also meet King Charles III of the United Kingdom.
