America has increased the tariff on China from 125 percent to 145 percent. The White House has said that the tariff imposed on Chinese goods coming to America is 145 percent.
On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump had said that he would increase the tariff to 125 percent.
However, the US administration has now confirmed that the figure that was given earlier did not include the 20 percent tariff already imposed. This is now being added separately to it, which has made the total tariff 145 percent.
China had announced to impose 84 percent tariff on American goods
Earlier, China had announced to impose 84 percent tariff on American goods.
On Wednesday, Trump changed his comprehensive tariff plan and deferred tariffs for 90 days on all countries except China, where the tariffs were very high. But in the meantime, a base tariff of 10 percent will remain applicable on all countries.
Stakeholders are keenly watching how the trade war between the US and China will affect the world economy.
China restricts import of Hollywood films
Meanwhile, China said it would immediately restrict the imports of Hollywood films -- it imports 10 Hollywood movies per year.
"We will follow market rules, respect the audience's choices, and moderately reduce the number of American films imported," the China's National Film Administration said on its website.
China has not announced any further tariff after its last 84 per cent. The restriction on Hollywood movies indicate that China would consider other avenues to counter US -- apart from tariffs.
