New Delhi: Mumbai terror attack mastermind Tahawwur Rana has arrived in India. He was brought from the US by a special plane, which landed at Delhi's Palam Airport. Tahawwur Rana was taken off the special plane amid tight security and is currently in NIA custody. Who will represent Tahawwur Rana in Patiala Court? Information about this has come to the fore.
Delhi Legal Services lawyer Piyush Sachdeva will represent Tahawwur Rana in the court. He has reached Patiala House Court. Piyush Sachdeva will present arguments in the court on behalf of Tahawwur Rana. Delhi State Legal Services Authority has appointed Piyush Sachdeva as Tahawwur Rana's lawyer.
Tahawwur Rana will appear in person
After medical examination by doctors at Palam Airport, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team is taking Tahawwur Rana to Patiala House Court. Rana is likely to be produced physically in the court. The government lawyer has reached the special court of NIA. NIA Special Judge Chandra Jeet Singh will hear the case.
Security of court premises increased
Security has been increased in the Patiala House Court premises. Barricades have been put up and a large number of policemen are present.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said in a statement that the extradition of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Tahawwur Rana was made possible after years of continuous and concerted efforts to bring the main conspirator of the 2008 mayhem to justice. The agency said Rana was kept in judicial custody in the US during extradition proceedings under the India-US Extradition Treaty.
