Jammu Kashmir Pahalgam Terror Attack: Security forces cordon off area, Amit Shah, Omar Abdullah condemn attack


Jammu Kashmir Terror Attack: A major terrorist attack has taken place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. On Tuesday (22 April) afternoon, terrorists wearing army uniforms opened fire on a group of tourists in the Baisran Valley. 


Two months before the Amarnath Yatra, several tourists were injured in indiscriminate firing by terrorists in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. So far one death has been confirmed, but it is feared that the death toll could be more than 26. Home Minister Amit Shah has reached J&K to hold high level meeting.


Immediately after this attack on Tuesday, security forces have cordoned off the area. Medical team has also reached the spot.


Some injured have been admitted to the Government Medical College in Anantnag.


This attack has happened at a time when the tourist season is at its peak in the valley. Pahalgam is very popular among tourists. Due to its lush green meadows and lakes, many tourists come here every year.


Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has described this as the biggest attack targeting civilians in recent years. He has expressed grief over this incident.


He wrote on social media platform X, "I am absolutely shocked. This attack on tourists is a disgusting act."


Amit Shah has written on social media X, "I am saddened by the extremist attack on tourists in Pahalgam. My condolences are with the families of those killed."


Amit Shah has said that whoever is responsible for this incident will not be spared. 


Amit Shah has said, "Prime Minister Modi has been informed about this incident and he has had a meeting with the concerned officials through video conferencing."


Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has condemned this attack and said that the attackers will not be spared.


After the incident, security forces have taken charge. The area has been cordoned off and a search operation is being carried out. Home Minister Amit Shah has announced to visit the spot. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also cancelled his proposed visit and left for Pahalgam.


Officials said a group of tourists from Rajasthan had come to visit the Baisran area. Meanwhile, terrorists started firing. A woman told media that 8 to 10 people have been injured in the attack. Her father has also been shot. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has talked to the Army Chief and got information.


Terrorist activities have increased on the Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir for the last few days. Jammu and Kashmir Police and Indian Army have killed some terrorists. On Tuesday, terrorists targeted a group of tourists. This group included 12 people.


JCO was martyred on 12 April


JCO Kuldeep Chand of 9 Punjab Regiment was martyred in an encounter with terrorists on 12 April in Akhnoor, Jammu. The encounter started on the night of 11 April in Keri Battal area of ​​Akhnoor. On the same day, soldiers killed 3 terrorists in the forests of Kishtwar district. All three terrorists belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammed.
