Accused arrested from Prayagraj

Fake cardiologist Narendra Yadav alias John Kem, working in a hospital located in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh, was arrested from Prayagraj on Monday. A police officer gave this information. Kem is being linked to the case of death of seven patients in a missionary hospital in Damoh district. Police had registered an FIR on Sunday midnight on charges of forgery and fraud against the accused holding a fake medical degree on the complaint of Damoh district Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) MK Jain.

Damoh SP Shurit Kirti Somwanshi said, “Our teams were tracking Yadav and detained him from a flat in Prayagraj. He was hiding there along with an associate who was also taken into custody. Both are being brought back to Damoh for questioning.”

Search conducted at the flat

The police also conducted a search of the flat, recovering several documents and papers, some of which are suspected to be related to the ongoing fraud case. These materials have been seized for further investigation. Earlier, an FIR was registered at Kotwali police station late Sunday night under sections 420, 467, and 468 of IPC for cheating and forgery using fake and fabricated documents.

The case came into focus after Yadav, using forged degrees under the name Dr. N. John Kem, allegedly performed fake angiography and angioplasty surgeries at the hospital.

Somwanshi said that preliminary investigation revealed that the doctor's certificate was fake. He said that an FIR has been lodged on charges of forgery and fraud and the arrest has been made on the basis of that. Somwanshi said, "The District Magistrate has handed over the investigation to Jabalpur Medical College after the CMHO's report regarding the death of patients in the hospital. Further investigation will be done on the basis of their (Jabalpur Medical College) report."
