Pahalgam attack: Cong passes several resolutions in CWC meeting, raises these questions

Resolutions have been passed in the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting regarding the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, general secretaries K.C. Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, among others, attended the CWC meeting at the party's 24, Akbar Road office.

The meeting started with leaders paying homage to the victims of the attack by observing a moment of silence in their memory. Rahul Gandhi had cut short his visit to the United States to attend the CWC meeting.

After the meeting, Pawan Khera gave information about the resolutions passed.

Pawan Khera said, "We appeal for peace."

He said, "Pahalgam is considered a very safe area, where a three-tier security system is in place. In such a situation, it is imperative that a comprehensive and in-depth investigation be conducted into the intelligence failure and security lapses in carrying out such an attack in the Union Territory, which comes directly under the Union Home Ministry."

"It is necessary to raise these questions in the larger public interest. This is the only way through which justice can be seen to be done to the victim families."

Pawan Khera said, "It is extremely shocking that the BJP is misusing this grave tragedy through its official and indirect social media platforms to spread more animosity, distrust, polarization and division, while at this time the thing most needed is unity and solidarity."

Earlier, many decisions were taken in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday itself.

In this meeting, many decisions were taken, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan and closing the Attari border.

In response to this, many decisions were also taken in the National Security Council meeting held in Islamabad on Thursday chaired by Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
