NC Classic Tournament in Bengaluru: Will Pakistani Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem come to India; what he said in response to Neeraj Chopra's invitation


Pakistani Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem will not participate in the NC Classic javelin throw tournament to be held in Bengaluru on May 24. He has turned down the invitation of two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra.


A few days ago, Neeraj Chopra, while giving information about the NC Classic javelin throw to be held in Bengaluru, said that he has also invited 2024 Paris Olympics gold medalist Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan to participate. Chopra said he has spoken to Nadeem and he will give his answer after talking to his coach.


Arshad will be in Korea for Asian Championship


Arshad told the media that the NC Classic event is on May 24, while I will leave for Korea on May 22 for the Asian Athletics Championship. He said that he is working hard for the Asian Championship to be held in Korea from 27 to 31 May. Arshad's statement came after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.


Nadeem won the gold medal in Paris Olympics 2024 with a record throw of 92.97 meters, while Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal with a throw of 89.45 meters.


Two-time world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada, Rio 2016 Olympics gold medalist Thomas Rohler of Germany, silver medalist and 2015 world champion Julius Yego of Kenya, and current world leader Curtis Thompson of America are participating in the Javelin Throw Competition being held in Bengaluru. The tournament is being jointly organised by AFI and World Athletics


The NC Classic event is being organised jointly by Neeraj Chopra, JSW Sports, Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and World Athletics (WA). It will be held at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Earlier it was to be held in Panchkula, Haryana, but the venue was changed due to lights problem there.


This event comes under WA's 'A' category or Continental Tour Gold level, which will be the biggest international athletics event to be held in India till date.
