Ranchi: A major rail accident took place in Jharkhand on Tuesday morning. Two goods trains collided near Barhet. The collision damaged the train's engines and caused a fire. The collision was so severe that two people lost their lives.
Railway staff has reached the spot after the accident. Relief and rescue operations are underway. During this, one body has been sent to the hospital mortuary while the other is badly stuck in the train and efforts are being made to remove it.
According to the information, a goods train going from Farakka to Lalmatia was standing in Barhet. Another goods train going from Lalmatia to Farakka carrying NTPC coal collided with it. The collision was so strong that both the engines were badly damaged and caught fire.

Both the goods trains were carrying coal. Both the trains were badly damaged due to the collision, due to which the coal-laden coaches caught fire due to a strong spark. After the loud explosion, a cloud of smoke spread with flames rising far and wide. Many coaches overturned on the railway track.
On receiving information about the accident, medical team and fire brigade along with railway officials and employees also reached the spot and somehow controlled the fire. The body of one person who died in the accident has been taken out while the other body is stuck. Apart from this, four other people have also been injured who have been sent to the nearby CHC.
Officials busy repairing the railway track
After the collision between the goods trains, the track on the Barhet route has been completely damaged. The work of removing the overturned bogies on the track has been started. The work of repairing the track will also be done. It may take two to three days to repair the track.
How did both the trains come on the same track in Barhet will be probed. Railway officials have formed an investigation team for this. As soon as the report comes out, it will be known where the mistake occurred.
Railway officials said that a high-level inquiry will be conducted into this incident. Strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty. The Railways has also announced compensation for the families of the deceased.
